Obedience Training
We want to help you to create a well behaved dog, not just an obedient one. The well behaved dog knows how to behave in the right context, whereas the obedient dog needs to be asked. This subtle but powerful difference will definitely have a positive impact on how much you enjoy each other’s company.
How dogs learn
Like us, dogs have preferred ways of learning, and how much they can learn at once. Individual preferences will always affect the specific approach we take to teach your puppy. Above all, we promote kindness, and patience, whilst drawing attention to the stark differences between how we both learn.
How we work together
Your obedience journey starts with an initial consultation to set some goals on what you’d like to achieve with your puppy. From there we’ll put together a plan of action, along with time frames for when you can expect to see results. Skills training is more fun and effective in person, although we will check in remotely in between sessions to keep the ‘ball rolling’… It’s our wish that you will only need us to point out that which you can’t see from where you’re standing. We want to empower you, build your confidence and support the growth of your dog’s self-esteem. We work in person, in and around the areas of Hampstead nw3 & St Johns Wood NW8.
Use your time wisely
You’ll soon find that time is very limited to teach your puppy new behaviours. So we’ll be encouraging you to train on the go, and prioritise what’s most important to you. You don’t need many behaviours, but the ones you choose should be taken on to be effective in a range of different contexts. It’s very hard not to fall in love with a puppy when you watch them learn. This is where the magic and wonder begins.
